Once again Gavan Grosser and Glorija Lawrence were kept busy with ceremonies in all parts of Victoria and they wish to thank all those special people with whom they have worked during 2005/2006.
As celebrants, they know that there is much in life that is hallowed and treasured and they know just how much their lives have been enriched, by working within the field of celebrations.
February 2006
February is the month when laughter and love fills the air. It is of course the time when we celebrate Saint Valentine’s Day so named in honour of two Roman Martyrs who died on this day.
The “World Book Encyclopedia” tell us that the custom of exchanging valentine’s on February 14th can be traced to the English poet, Geoffrey Chaucer who mentioned that birds began to pair off on that day.
Other countries have celebrated Valentine’s Day for centuries but commercial valentine’s only started to come into practice in the early 1800’s. In Australia we were a bit slow to catch on, but now its commercialism is guaranteed, especially for the floral industry who have their biggest flower selling day of the year.
This year I did not have a wedding, so we decided to celebrate anyway by having a Valentine’s Day party.
Several guests enjoyed a celebration with good food and wine and several special valentine’s cakes for desert.
The house was decorated with red roses and red balloons as you can see by the photos, the young ones, especially Rijana and Lucy enjoyed dressing up for the occasion. See photo above.
